SKIN TREATMENTS MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling

At Beautiful U Medi Spa, we know everyone deserves beautiful skin. Whether you’re inflicted by fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, acne scarring, or even just need a little skin rejuvenation, microneedling can help.

Microneedling is a very safe and effective alternative to injectables and invasive lasers. The results are long term and the recovery time is minimal. This cost effective, non-invasive, non-injectable skin rejuvenation treatment targets a diverse range of skin concerns, including textural irregularities, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, acne scarring and even stretch marks!

During the treatment, after topical numbing has been applied, our microneedling pen is gently glided over your skin while tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis. This microchannels encourage your skin’s own natural healing response, leading to the production of collagen and elastin, and increasing the absorption of topical products. Your skin becomes firmer and regains its elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced, pores become finer, circulation is stimulated, and the overall condition of your skin improves.

A series of treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart is recommended, depending on the severity of your skin concern. Contact Beautiful U now for more information and to see if this treatment is right for you!

FAQ

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses a pen shaped device studded with 9-12 very fine needles. Microneedling breaks down old scar tissue and stimulates cells to proliferate. This cell multiplication results in the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibres as well as in new capillaries for an improved blood supply.

What conditions can be treated or improved with microneedling?
  • Mild to moderate acne scarring; any new or old scars
  • Skin texture and pore size
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
What does the treatment involve?

Numbing cream may be applied 15-30 mins. prior to micro-needling to lessen discomfort. For better results we use customizable serums depending on the skin concern we are treating. A small handheld pen like device with a sterile, disposable tip with 9 tiny needles is then used to pierce the skin. Our needling pen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depth allow needles to pierce the skin’s layer and increase the absorption of products. After the treatment, soothing Hyaluronic acid Gel is used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Most people will experience redness and mild swelling in a similar way as a mild sunburn for 24-48 hours and there may be minimal pin-point bleeding and/or bruising. Small pinpoint scabs may appear, but will naturally shed within 5-14 days. Within a week or two, you will notice that your skin is smoother and more radiant looking but the full effects won’t be seen until a few months later.

What is the down time after a microneedling treatment?

The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 48 hours. Moisturizing/hydrating products are recommended to assist with redness and possible dryness.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients require only a single treatment to achieve their desired results. However, most patients will benefit most from a series of 3-5 treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. For patients with deep acne scarring, wrinkles, or stretch marks, more treatments may be needed.

What are the side effects?

Side effects are minimal, and can include redness, swelling, bruising, and pinpoint scabbing. These all dissipate within a week to two weeks.

Are there any reasons you would not be a candidate for microneedling?

You would not be a candidate for microneedling if you have any cardiac/vascular condition, if you are pregnant, if you have a history of keloids, have skin cancer/lesions, or any active bacterial or fungal infection.
